As a Gen-Xer, I have to say we had some of the best Christmas music growing up. Not only did our parents play all the classics by Frank and Dean and Bing, we had an innumerably dense amount of bands and musical genres from the early 70s through the late 90s; Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Run DMC, Wham!, The Pogues, Mariah Carey, Pearl Jam. Plus, freakin Band Aid!
Here’s a handful of Christmas songs that defined my Gen-X childhood. I’m especially fond of 1987’s A Very Special Christmas. If you too are a Gen-Xer, drop your suggestions in the comments below!
